The Scottish Government has responded today (8 March) to the
final reports of its two advisory groups on fuel poverty. Last autumn the Scottish Fuel Poverty
Strategic Working Group and the Scottish Rural Fuel Poverty Task Force
concluded their year-long deliberations and published between them over 100
recommendations for better tackling fuel poverty in Scotland.

Further Energy Price Rises Hit Electric Heating Users Most
Energy company E.ON has announced (7 March) that it is
increasing its standard electricity prices by an average of 13.8 per cent from
26 April. This increase, along with
similar increases by some other energy companies, will hit households that rely
on electric heating particularly hard.

Fear that Energy Price Rises will Push Up Fuel Poverty
The news today (Feb 3) that npower is increasing its electricity and gas
prices for customers next month by up to 15 per cent will without doubt
set off alarm bells for many people already struggling to afford their
fuel bills. Some other energy companies have already said they also
expect to increase prices this spring.

First Comprehensive Study of Scottish Projects Dealing with the Health Implications of Fuel Poverty
The
vital and sometimes life-saving work carried out by dozens of organisations
across Scotland that tackle health issues caused by fuel poverty has been
mapped in a new report published today, Thursday 02 February 2017.

Energy Action Scotland Reaction to new Scottish Fuel Poverty Figures Published
The fall in the level of fuel poverty in Scotland, as
announced today (6 December) is welcome news in that the figure is moving in
the right direction and means fewer people are living in cold, damp homes
compared to the previous year. But
unfortunately the change does not signify ‘job done’ as the new figure for 2015
is still higher than the first ever measurement of fuel poverty in 1996.
