New report warns failing fuel poverty strategies will leave flagship net zero commitment dead in the water


A new report recently released [Tuesday 17th September] claims thousands of people across the UK will die this coming winter as national strategies to keep people warm are failing them. The new report also highlights that floundering progress to improve domestic energy efficiency will leave the UK Government’s flagship net zero commitment dead in the water.

Minister to Address National Conference on Fuel Poverty

Kevin Stewart, Minister for Local Government and Housing will launch the Scottish Government’s new consultation on a new fuel poverty target and strategy when he opens Scotland’s national conference ‘Resolving Fuel Poverty’ today (9th November).

Energy Action Scotland Welcomes New Commitment to Eradicating Fuel Poverty

The Scottish Government has responded today (8 March) to the final reports of its two advisory groups on fuel poverty.  Last autumn the Scottish Fuel Poverty Strategic Working Group and the Scottish Rural Fuel Poverty Task Force concluded their year-long deliberations and published between them over 100 recommendations for better tackling fuel poverty in Scotland.

National Fuel Poverty Charity Reaction to Advisory Group Reports Published Today

Reacting to the publication today (24 October 2016) of the final reports of the two short-life advisory groups set up by the Scottish Government to review fuel poverty in Scotland, the national fuel poverty charity Energy Action Scotland is urging Scottish Ministers to now reset the target to eliminate fuel poverty in Scotland.

Energy Action Scotland endorses the call to the Scottish Government by both the Scottish Fuel Poverty Strategic Working Group and the Scottish Rural Fuel Poverty Task Force for the new policy to “be firmly based on the principle of social justice”.
