Scotland’s national chef, Gary Maclean, is backing a new campaign to help families struggling with rising fuel bills by providing tasty ways of keeping costs down.
Masterchef: The Professionals champion, Gary, has teamed up with fuel poverty champions Energy Action Scotland, to supply energy efficient pressure cookers that could save families as much as 70% on their cooking bills.
The energy regulator Ofgem has today announced an £96 increase to the energy price cap. The increase is likely to result in suppliers putting their prices up in the coming weeks before the new cap level takes effect in April.
Frazer Scott, Chief Executive of fuel poverty charity Energy Action Scotland comments:
“If energy suppliers respond by increasing their prices up to the new
cap level, then over 1 million households in Scotland will pay
substantially more for their energy.
Smart Energy GB is the voice of the smart meter rollout. It’s their task to help everyone understand smart meters and how to get the best from them. Working with and through partnership organisations – from across the voluntary, private and public sectors - is a central part of the campaign.
