Gary Maclean helps release pressure for families in fuel poverty

 

Scotland’s national chef, Gary Maclean, is backing a new campaign to help families struggling with rising fuel bills by providing tasty ways of keeping costs down.

Masterchef: The Professionals champion, Gary, has teamed up with fuel poverty champions Energy Action Scotland, to supply energy efficient pressure cookers that could save families as much as 70% on their cooking bills.

Things just got tougher

The energy regulator Ofgem has today announced an £96 increase to the energy price cap. The increase is likely to result in suppliers putting their prices up in the coming weeks before the new cap level takes effect in April.

Frazer Scott, Chief Executive of fuel poverty charity Energy Action Scotland comments:

“If energy suppliers respond by increasing their prices up to the new cap level, then over 1 million households in Scotland will pay substantially more for their energy.

Challenge Poverty Week: Helping Families Cook

 As we remain at home with the nights drawing in and no end to COVID-19 and it’s harsh restrictions in sight, I’m doubly grateful to be working from a home that’s warm & dry. I’m not stressed about the washing machine, the tumble dryer and all the other essential household goods and whether we can turn them on when we need them.
